What to book ahead

  • Mid-October (Oct 15–28) brings peak autumn maple foliage to Seoraksan first, followed by Andong and Gyeongju in early November.
  • Pack broken-in trail shoes with good grip for the granite steps of Seoraksan Ulsanbawi and Gyeongju Namsan.
  • Reserve the Hahoe Village bus (#210) schedule at Andong Station tourist desk on arrival so you time the 2:00 PM mask dance performance smoothly.

Ways to adapt this route

  • Add an extra night in Busan or Jeju if travelling at a slower pace.
  • On rainy days, swap outdoor fortress or mountain walks for the National Museum of Korea, COEX Starfield Library, or a local jjimjilbang spa.
