What to book ahead
- Every Seoul and Busan subway station has street-to-platform elevators and nursing/diaper rooms (Su-yu-sil), and large department stores (Lotte, Shinsegae, Hyundai) lend free strollers at the 1st-floor concierge desk.
- Great non-spicy Korean dishes kids love: Bulgogi (sweet soy-marinated beef), Galbi (grilled ribs), Samgyetang (mild chicken soup), Gimbap (seaweed rice rolls), Kalguksu (mild noodle soup), Mandu (dumplings), and Bingsu (shaved milk ice with mango or strawberries).
- Children ages 6–12 get 50% off KTX fares and Youth T-money cards (ask the convenience store clerk to register the child's birth date on the card so it charges the ~₩550 child subway fare).
Ways to adapt this route
- Add an extra night in Busan or Jeju if travelling at a slower pace.
- On rainy days, swap outdoor fortress or mountain walks for the National Museum of Korea, COEX Starfield Library, or a local jjimjilbang spa.
